657th festival of Sant’Antioco – the programme

The local festival “Sagra di Sant’Antioco” takes place every year, 15 days after Easter. It is one of the oldest religious celebrations in Sardinia, this year recurring its 657th edition.

Here follows the programme manifesto (in Italian) of the celebrations, from 8th to 12th April.


Here’s a brief summary of the main events (in english) :

8th April Presentation of the book “Annali di Storia e Archeologia Sulcitana” – 4pm  Aula Consiliare

Conference on the presentation of the art exhibit “Antioco, the Saint who came from the sea” – 7.15 pm Basilica S.Antioco Martire

 9th April Pilgrimage and bread  offering “Is coccois” to the Saint – 6 pm from Church Santa Maria Goretti towards the Basilica

Inauguration of the itinerant contemporary art exhibit “Antioco, the Saint who came from the sea” – 8 pm Museo Archeologico F. Barreca

Concert and Cabaret – 8.30 pm  Museo Archeologico F. Barreca; 9.30 pm  Piazza Umberto

 10th April Historical re-enactment “Awakening of the City” –  9 am from Basilica S.Antioco Martire

Folk groups from all over Sardinia – 10 am from the Church N.S. di Bonaria to Piazza Umberto

Pariglie  “Sa cursa po Santu Antiogu” – 3.30 pm Lungomare Silvio Olla

11th April Solemn procession with folk group, kights, traccas and launeddas from all over Sardinia – 6.30 pm from Basilica towards various streets of Sant’Antioco town

Sardinian dance, fireworks and GolaSeca concert – from 9 pm Piazza de Gasperi, Laguna Sant’Antioco and Piazza Umberto
